Jeffrey Epstein's death by suicide in his jail cell on Saturday morning (Aug. 10) has raised a lot of questions on both sides of the political spectrum, and it appears Foster the People have their own theory about what exactly happened.

On Saturday night, the band tweeted that they believe Epstein's death was faked and that the photo circulating online that shows the billionaire's body being wheeled out on a gurney is part of a hoax. "have you seen photos of the body?" they wrote. "it's obviously not him. my guess is, epstein's on a private plane to somewhere in the middle east getting prepped for plastic surgery right now #EpsteinBodyDouble"

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- A woman claims Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficked her to powerful men, including former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.

According to an unsealed 2016 deposition, Virginia Giuffre said she was forced to provide erotic massages for Richardson, Britain's Prince Andrew and several other men in positions of power when she was a teenager.

Richardson was not charged with a crime.

A spokesperson for Richardson said the allegations are untrue.

“These allegations and inferences are completely false. Governor Richardson has never even been contacted by any party regarding this lawsuit. To be clear, in Governor Richardson’s limited interactions with Mr. Epstein, he never saw him in the presence of young or underage girls. Governor Richardson has never been to Mr. Epstein’s residence in the Virgin Islands. Governor Richardson has never met Ms. Giuffre," said Maddy Mahony, Richardson's spokesperson.

Giuffre has also claimed that she had sex with prominent defense attorney Alan Dershowitz, which he denies.

Giuffre sued Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, who was allegedly Epstein's madam. The lawsuit was settled out of court.

The Republican Party of New Mexico released the following statement: 
"From the moment the Jeffrey Epstein news broke the nation has been warned that other high profile Democrats are involved in this abusive and disgusting case. Now, former Gov. Bill Richardson has been accused in a deposition by a victim that was trafficked as an underage sex slave and claims she was forced to have sex with the former Governor. If these allegations are true, he should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Furthermore, I call on Democrat Attorney General Hector Balderas to confirm whether these alleged crimes happened at Epstein’s Zorro Ranch or anywhere else in New Mexico. If they did, the AG must launch a full investigation into this vile and repulsive behavior and hold Bill Richardson accountable, even if it means going against his party to do so."

The Jeffrey Epstein scandal “already seems bigger than Weinstein,” one source involved in litigation against Epstein told me, referring to the downfall of the disgraced Hollywood mogul. And the scariest thing to the elite worlds through which Epstein glided over decades is that it may be closer to the beginning than the end. According to attorney David Boies, some 2,000 pages of documents regarding his client Virginia Roberts Giuffre, a former Mar-a-Lago locker-room attendant and Epstein accuser, are set to be released in the next “10 days to two weeks.” The secrets contained in the documents have been the subject of fevered speculation ever since a federal appeals court panel noted that the pages could describe episodes of alleged abuse by Epstein and appearances by “numerous prominent American politicians, powerful business executives, foreign presidents, a well-known prime minister, and other world leaders.”

The sealed documents are part of the evidence submitted in a 2015 lawsuit brought by Giuffre against Epstein’s alleged madam, Ghislaine Maxwell, for defamation after she called Giuffre a liar. According to three sources who have been briefed on the documents’ contents, the documents contain excerpts of Giuffre’s sworn depositions, in which she names powerful men in the worlds of politics and science whom she claims she witnessed hanging around during her years as Epstein’s self-described “sex slave.” “Some of the documents will identify people she had sex with. Others will identify people she saw at various Epstein places,” Boies said.

Why do the world’s criminals come to London to launder their dirty money?

“It’s a great place for people to settle. You’ve got people who want stable investments in real estate, and want to bring their families and children to a more stable regime. You’ve messed up Russia, right? So where do you want your kids to grow up? Not Russia,” says Friedrich Lindenberg of the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).

Analysts and academics argue too much of the money flowing around the UK is the result of crime, corruption and tax dodging. The House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee has gone further still, calling on the government to make it a “major UK foreign policy priority” to stop the use of London as a base for Russian corruption.

And there’s a lot of work to do. “You can walk into the right office in London and set up your British Virgin Islands company, your Panama company, your Guernsey trust,” says Lindenberg. “It’s all handled for you.”

Greenberg Traurig cannot be held liable for its former attorney’s work on behalf of convicted Ponzi schemer R. Allen Stanford in a putative class action suit, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday.
Investors who lost billions of dollars after purchasing certificates of deposit issued by Stanford International Bank Ltd. had sought to hold Greenberg Traurig responsible for Carlos Loumiet’s work as primary outside counsel for Stanford until the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission shut operations down in 2009. Loumiet no longer practices at Greenberg Traurig.
But the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit affirmed a lower court decision that said the investors were stymied by a doctrine of attorney immunity in Texas law.
“This appeal concerns three purported exceptions to that doctrine,” Judge Leslie Southwick said in the 10-page opinion. “The district court held that none of them exists.”
Fort Lauderdale-based Boies Schiller Flexner partner Stuart Singer argued the appeal for Greenberg Traurig. Singer praised the appeals court and Judge David Godbey of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, in a statement.
